When growing cannabis, you will have to be able to identify the plant’s gender genetics and reproductive system.
When growing the plant does not show gender qualities until its slightly matured which is around 2-4 weeks.
Male:
Chromosomes-XY
Genitalia- Pistils
When trying to figure out the gender, the sign of the male plant is a “pollen sack” along with a straighter plant structure, fewer flowers at the top of the plant, and tighter clusters. They grow faster than the female plants and are usually taller. They can also affect female plants and make them develop seeds and produce lesser amounts of beneficial compounds. The male plant has the natural desire to pollinate when it is around a female.
Females:
Chromosomes- XX
Genitalia- Stamens (Blossom into flowers)
Female plants grow into better quality cannabis. The female plant produces maximum THC levels and higher cannabinoid and terpene contents. Along with no undesirable seeds or sacks.
